Job Title: TASTING ROOM REP 2 (WA)

SUMMARY
Under minimum supervision works as part of a team to support tasting room operations
in a manner that achieves the established financial goals, ensures a rich consumer
experience, builds consumer loyalty and reflects the brand essence. Primary functions
include cash register operations, product knowledge, product presentations, sales and
service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 Opens and closes the Tasting Room daily.
 Opens, tastes and inventories selected wines for pouring daily.
 Executes all wine quality control procedures.
 Participates in assignments that benefit the tasting room financially and operationally.
 Presents selected wines and assists consumers with their purchases.
 Functions as an informed resource for consumers regarding winemaking, wine
growing, wine vintages and availability of products.
 Leads Tasting Room personnel in assigned projects and initiatives.
 Demonstrates knowledge of brand awards and accolades.
 Operates cash registers accurately and provides training on POS systems for less
experienced tasting room personnel.
 Leads the inventory management program at the Columbia Winery.
 Coordinates weekly wine orders.
 Purchases and receives all non-wine merchandise; verifies accuracy of paperwork and
maintains accurate inventory system.
 Stocks wine and non-wine merchandise daily.
 Tracks daily tasting room visitors.
 Maintains supplies based on business needs.
 Conducts consumer tours as needed; participates in public outreach efforts within
local hospitality industry.
 Promotes the benefits of joining the Wine Club.
 Participates in special events, pouring opportunities, demos and tastings as needed,
including Wine Club Events.
 Processes phone orders and wine shipping orders in compliance with Federal and
State regulations.
 Checks identification as required by state regulation for serving alcoholic beverages.
 Recognizes the symptoms of intoxication and informs a manager.
 Represents the company and Brand professionally, graciously and enthusiastically.
 Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
 Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and
safety regulatory considerations.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of retail sales, wine marketing, or hospitality
experience
OR
5 years retail sales, wine marketing, or hospitality experience reflecting increasing
levels of responsibility.
 Cash register experience.
 Required to be 21 years of age or older.
 Required to work weekends and a flexible schedule as needed.
 Required to lift and move product weighing up to 50 pounds.
 Required to engage in frequent walking and standing.
 Experienced in reading and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and
memos.
 Experienced in writing simple correspondence and procedures.
 Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure, using
whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
 High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of tasting room, wine sales, wine marketing, or
hospitality experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
 Knowledge of the different wine varietals.
 Skilled in communication, presentation, sales and customer service.
 Skilled in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,
proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
 Skilled in applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
 Strong interpersonal skills.
 Demonstrated ability to motivate and encourage others.
 Experience identifying opportunities for driving sales and engaging others.
